How to Turn Traction Control Off

(1/1)

OJ:
Hello all,

On a recent trip to Fraser Island I noticed that when my car was started with the centre diff lock engaed and in high range, my traction control and ABS lights would be on.  After discussing this with my mechanic, this is apparently the method for turning off traction control.  I have always wanted to be able to turn of TC for sand driving, but have not known or read of this method anywhere.  I thought I would pass it on for those that would also find it useful.

To clarify, the method is as follows:

1. Turn off car
2. Engage CDL in high range
3. Turn on car

So simple.  I wish I had of known this earlier.  To turn it on again it is as simple as disengaging CDL and resarting the car.

Most of you probably already knew this, but it may just help for someone like myself.

Thanks for the info OJ.  Most of the long standing members know this, but it's good to have it on the site for those who are newer.

JD:
I recently tried it on my 2004 TD5 and it didn't work. Is the something wrong with mine?

dm_td5:
Won't work on 03MY onwards Disco's as they re-instated the CDL.  It's only something on the pre-03 non-CDL Disco's that have a CDL kit installed.
