Nagging problems

Hi All

99 TD5 Auto

I have a couple of nagging problems for which I cannot find a solution to.

One is when I am being a lead foot and relates to gear changes.

When it changes gear ( primarily form 1st to 2nd ) it seems to grab or brake momentarily. You loose some momentem and the gear change ends up being more like a large g"gulp" than a smooth click.

Also I have a vibration @2200 - 2500 rpm than eminates from the gear  box region.

I suspect the torque converter is playing up!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Claude.  The first thing I'd do is have the transmission fluid replaced with a full synthetic fluid.  This seems to smooth out a lot of the jerking.

Maybe check out your handbrake assembly as well...they can get a little sticky if there is an oil leak in the area.  It does tend to grab more on the way down, but is pretty common to grab going up too.
