Tyres for 2003 D2
« on: March 01, 2010, 01:12:53 PM »
I am thinking of fitting some of these to the Disco. Any thoughts or other suggestions? Any notes on speedo issues or insurance ? I want a good all round tyre, dont need muddies on it (I am tempted to put them on though, the new BF goodies)

Hi LSE, I'm running the same size in a different brand.  They seem to have basically "corrected" my speedo inaccuracy.  I'd suggest that you check your speedo for accuracy with a GPS before fitting, and again after, and take the difference into consideration whilst driving etc.  I have personally found Michelins to be excellent tyres, and would be using them again if I could afford them.  If you fit them to a 7" rim they are going to stand tall with little bagging of the sidewall, so would also be less prone to sidewall punctures as well.

Hope this helps somewhat.
Kind Regards, Will Church

Please let us know what you think of them, as I will be looking for new tyres later in the year too.  Thanks

Hi LSE
At that size, your speedo shouldn't be too badly affected. I run 265/75 MTZ's for play tyres and find that my speedo is out by 10%, and has affected the power somewhat. With 245 you should hardly notice a difference.

Cheers
Hendrik

The LAttitude cross didnt come in....they had 2 in the whole country !! I did have a look at them and would have been most happy if thats what eventuated.....but I have now a set of BF Goodrich KM2 muds on, very quiet for a mud on the road, but definitely happy with them.. Problem now is they are 245/75/16 and dont fit on the tyre carrier on the door...any suggestions????

Easiest thing to do is turn the carrier upside down.  Involves removing the inner dress trim, then the 6 long bolts that hold the carrier on.  Use the thick packing plates at a guide and drill 2 new middle holes.  Loosely refit the carrier, and mark the place the wiper arm will hit it.  Use a Dremel or similar and cut out a notch to allow full wiper arm movement.  Tighten, refit trim, enjoy your 245/75 spare.

I am back in Aus now and the Lattitude cross came in. I am going to fit them next week and want some advice on the best way to get the rear door panel off to bolt the tyre carrier back on without wrecking everything. Any hints please ? Typical Rover, the nuts are not captives.....and fell into the panel.

Old tyres available if someone needs a spare. one good Synchrone, one goof Michelin X the rest are trailer tyres....

OK, 245/70/16 Lattitude cross (the Extra load version) now fitted. I have to say these are the BEST tyres i had experienced on a disco.....quiet, grip well, quiet, ride well, quiet, great in the wet, quiet, and a good AT off road....and did i mention quiet !!!

very very happy.
