Starting problem again
« on: October 07, 2009, 08:09:53 AM »
Hello all,

My disco refused to start the other day and I was parked at home with nothing electrical within 100 metres.

I had locked the car with the central locking on the key and left it for about 2 hours. When I came back I unlocked it as usual and my wife and I got aboard. Just as I operated the starter motor my wife wound down a window. End of start attempt.

All the dashboard lights were operating ok, the starter motor cranked the engine but it would not start.

I mucked around for about 30 minutes to no avail and decide to test and reset the immobilizer. I locked the car using the remote on the key and unlocked it again straight after, it started first go.

I have since been told by a Land Rover mechanic that the D2 locking controller and ECU sometimes misses telling the immobilizer that it needs to turn off and this will prevent the engine from firing.

So, if you have a problem starting the engine, try locking it all up and resetting the immobilizer. It may work for you also.

regards

Ross
