Where did you put your UHF?
« on: August 02, 2004, 07:34:31 AM »
Ok, instead of everyone describing where they put it, it would be very helpful if you could post a picture on here of your radio placement.

If you dont know how to post a photo, just put the picture on the "Aussiediscovery II" site under the folder "Adam" and I will put it on here

Thanks,
Adam

I put mine above the interior light. It is a Uniden dual band unit.

Mines in the same spot as Glens but it's a GME TX3200 I do like the way Glen's mike and cord store so neatly will try to do something simlar.

I have the GME TX3200 also and it fits nicely in the map holder above the drivers head. Power and antenna lead run down the inside of the A pillar. Power is sourced from the empty relay socket inside the fuse compartment by just using a male spade connector. Depending on which socket you insert into you can have constant power or accessory power.

I put mine behind the transfer lever. Its out of the way there, though visibility isn't the best when you are using the cupholder, but its not a real drama.

Its a GME TX3400 which has a remote head. I really didn't want the bulk of the unit making the place look messy. Thats just the control panel you can see, and the rest of the unit sits under the dash hidden away.

Simon, how did you attach the bracket - just screw thru the panel?

Gday John,

Major Communications in Narellan installed it, but I'm pretty sure its just 2 short screws that have gone through the plastic for the head unit.

G'day Adam,

First, I had a GME TX3400, which I did a quick install in the dark the night I picked up the Disco for a trip the following day:

It was stuck on with double sided tape. I did not clean the dash first with alcohol so it kept falling off. I then mounted it on the overhead console, where I later replaced it with a TX4400 unit:

And then here is where I put my old classic 27MHz AM/SSB unit:

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Michael...

I have a split, uniden 013, that is fitted beside the console on the drivers side and the base unit is the storage holder beneath the drivers side seat

Cheers
