Bar/Light/Aerial
« on: December 01, 2008, 11:40:22 AM »
Hi guys, as part of my build up of my Disco 2 I would eventually like to get some lighforce lights and a place to mount a UHF Aerial.

However aside from the ARB bull bar, (only has the bar raised in the middle, standard bumper bar replcement on the sides) there is nothing else I really ahve seen out there that I like.

I don't necessarily want a full blown Bull bar as I am eventually only planning to do light to meduim 4WDing, hence no winch. I am really looking to find something to mount lights & areial and have a towing point/s if possible.

Oh yeah want to do it as cheaply as possible!!!!!! I have already spent a fair bit on her, with new 4.6 motor and just generally getting it up to good condition.

BTW not sure exactly what model mine is (2001) it has the side moulds, different wheels an colour coded front bumper underneath with fogs no leather though. Does'nt have any model badging on it, eg ES, SE
Don't necessarily want to remove the front bumper that's currently on it, unless the bar looks awesome (hence ARB bar)

Sorry for rambling on, have so much I want to do to it, and so much I want to learn!

Thanks for any help!

Cheers
   JB.

G'day Jaybee,

I know you said you don't think you need a full bullbar,  but you may well find the additional front clearance you can achieve with a bull bar is a big bonus as well as giving you the solution for the lights and aerial.

On my Last Disco II - a 2000 model so very similar to yours, I originally thought the same as you.... but as soon as you start exploring tracks with deeper wheel ruts - you will find the front spoiler on the DII a damn nuisance.. wasn't long before i cracked mine  >:(

Bullbars for these seem to appear on Ebay pretty regularly... so if your patient that could be a good solution.  I paid under $500.

 Cheers, Mark

???

Thanks Mark for the suggestion, maybe you are right.

I have been looking on Ebay, but besides the LR bars that come up, I have not seen any decnt bull bars on ebay, however as said no rush and the purchase would eb a little while off.

Cheers
