Front End "Clunk" - solved

I've had a front end clunk for about 6 months now and I've crawled underneath a few times and gone looking for it but couldn't find the cause.

The clunk happened when turning (changing direction) and on any bumps/potholes in the road.

I finally systematically went through the front end and came across the sway bar rubbers located below the bumper, everything felt reasonably tight but on the off chance i bought 2x replacements ($8.00ea) and fitted them.

When i removed the old rubbers they appeared okay with no real sign of wear, but when i installed the new rubbers the "clunk" disappeared.

Now my Disco has ACE so it pretty much gives the sway bar a thorough work out all day everyday and with the location of these rubbers i imagine they fill up with all sorts of gunk and just grind the rubbers away.

So if anyone has Active Cornering, its probably a worthwhile job to replace these rubbers, they are cheap and its only a 15 minute job to swap them out.

Those sway bars do transmit a bit of suspension thump back through the chassis.

On my non-ACE vehicle, I've fitted a sway bar quick-disconnect, and so did a friend of mine.  Both of us independently observed that when the sway bar is disconnected, there was far less thumping noises transmitted into the cabin when going over bumpy roads compared to when the sway bars were connected.
