EMS 1 into my Disco
« on: August 14, 2008, 05:55:00 AM »
I have installed an EMS1 (Engine Management System) into my TD5 Disco, mainly because of the overheating problems i had, which lead to a blown head gasket >:D

Engine overheating in TD5s is very important and the FACTORY warning devices are not very good at warning you about overheating, not too mention low coolent level, this device warns you before it happens not after, which is normally too late.

It went in pretty easy, considering the crap instructions and what i thought was a faulty sender, turned out too be an earth problem.

The system monitors the coolent temp and coolent level, transfer case temp, EGTs and oil pressure, as well as pitch and roll as well as an artifical horizon for side angles, it's now a matter of learning to drive via this gauge, especially when watching the EGTs and how they rise so rapidly, but a slight back off of the throttle and they slow and even start too drop.

So far it's all working great, and gives me a bit more peice of mind.
This is who makes it, to get it here you can go to AULRO and PM Jan (The Entertainer) he is the importer of them
