Front driveshaft gaitor
« on: November 19, 2007, 05:05:55 PM »
Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with the gaitor on their front drive shaft of their D2.  My vehicle is a 04 model.  Mine has disintegrated leaving each end only.  L/R does not have a listing on mine.  They say that they are the same as the rear shaft.  The gaitor on my vehicle is a concertina type about 90mm long and each end is 50 mm dia.  My Daughter and Son in Law also have an 03 D2.  Their front shaft was the same as mine and was replaced under warranty with another shaft with the same Gaitor.  Can anyone advise where I might be able to access a new Gaitor?
Gary

Gary, do you been the rubber boot at the front end of the front shaft, as shown in the attached photo?  If so, your best bet would be either a specialist wrecker, OR a driveshaft rebuilder, who may have a shaft that can't be fixed but may still have a useable boot.

What area are you in?

Hi Will,
Yes Will that is the Gaitor I was referring to.  I am from Yeppoon.  My Daughter, "Boosbus", and her husband live in Brisbane so I have contacts down there.  I have tried MR Automotive at Redcliff and a number of other places but no success.  Any suggestions you may have would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Gary

I'd try Range Rov or Triumph Rover Spares.  Their info is in the Links section of this site (click Links at top of page).
