the joy of owning a Land Rover
« on: January 11, 2007, 05:18:00 PM »
I'd like to relate my week to everyone who owns a D2.

It all went wrong on Monday when my wife went to go down town.  Unlocked the Disco with the key fob, key in ignition, alarm sounds.  I got home and checked it out, everything looked right, but the alarm LED on the dash was blinking rapidly.  Anyway to cut a long story short the Disco was about as mobile as a Monte Carlo Blue Garden gnome would be.  The vehicle was immobilized, the car battery, fob battery all OK (well they both replaced now anyway).  The EKA wouldn't work.

Now for those who know me on LROCV I live in a remote town, nearest LR dealer/service agent is 1100km (by road) or about 700 nautical miles (by barge - think $$,$$$) away.

Suffice to say I now own Rovacomlite and the car is now working again after reseting things.

What I did learn, and have really appreciated, is that we, as Landy owners, have a fantastic network.  I had a number of frantic phone calls and without the advice of people at places like Roverparts, Ritters, Triumph Rover Spares, HardRange and all of the users on these forums like LROCV, D2AU, AULRO and others it would have been a worse week for me.

So just remember when everything on the car goes belly up help is available. Land Rover ownership seems to bring out the best in a lot of people and for that we should all be congratulated.

You'll notice I have omitted LRA from all of this.  Let's just say my call to them was a waste of time and leave it at that.

Glad to hear that you are mobile again, and I'm also really happy that the Disco network came to your aid.
Kind Regards, Will Church

Thanks Will.  I'd be lost without the forums.

I know what you mean Derek, so would I...  By the way, I fixed your signature, added the D back at the start of your name...
Kind Regards, Will Church
