$320 a tyre was the damage for the J/T's & I was quoted $330-$350 for the mtr's in the size you said, but then I had to get 8" wide rims. I will get some 8" rims & mtr's at some stage.

Glenn (Brothers Offroad) is sponsored buy GOODYEAR so he said he could get the MTR's for less than $300 but I haven't thought about rims. I might have a chat with him about the rims he gets for racing as he can get them in 8" although the ones he uses are 10" wide.

Rangie spares in Melbourne carry 8" wide steel in stock, for $135.
I think unless I can find someone in Qld to come close for price I will be getting these. I
rang british ofroad & they have 8" wide rangie alloys there for $340 a rim, but thats to much money for the bashing I an going to give them.
Let me know how you go with your mate getting prices, I rekon steel will be better for the abuse I am likly to inflict opon them, rather than alloy.

I personally would prefer steel for the same reason as you but I am beginning to worry about weight also. (R/sliders, steel rear bar, etc) Glenn said that the alloys he has used over the past 5 years have copt a flogging. He used these rims in the Outback challenge a few years back & never had a problem. (He was the quickest in the field in 3 of the roughest stages & never buckled a wheel).
They are a heavier alloy wheel but I haven't checked the offset.
The rims are the same as the ones on the white Disco in my photos except his race rims have bead locks. From memory he said they should be around $250 / rim ?
I will try & get some photos of his race truck (Defender) that we are rebuilding at the moment, it has a 500 + hp eliminator 351 in it - MAN it makes some noise !!!! 8O  8O
He is racing it at the Mud Bulls & Music.

This defender sounds like something I need to see more of, but I refuse to pay the asking price for Mud,bulls &music, they get enough $$$ out of me for the rest of the year, They are becoming very money orrintated at the park, I know it is their livlyhood, but they have made us pay for extra 24 hrs here & there when we turn up late at night & stay a day & leave early the next morning,& asking for 3 days stay. they just been annoying in the last 12 months or so. I wish there was somewhere else like it.                                                                                                                                  & I hate country music.
