How do you / should you disable traction control in D2a

In soft sand when the traction control kicks in it effects the momentum. 8O
In 04 model series 2 there is no ability to disable as far as I know.

If I pull the fuse on the ABS   apart from no ABS / Traction control is there any other impact?

Can this method create any other issues leading to any vehicle failure?

I dont have the direct answer for this question, but if the ETC is triggering your tyres pressures are still too high. On factory tyres I've run down as low as 12psi without drama on the super soft Stockton sand, on my previous 4WD a v6 Frontera with rims that are no doubt not the quality of LR, I used to run down to 10psi at Stockton, and could drive the beach in 2WD!  8O

As a sand guide though, I did the desert at 20psi, Stockton usually 15psi and Fraser at 20-25psi.

I do have the ability to disable the ETC in my MY00 Disco, but have never had the need to. If anything in conjunction with CDL it has helped, especially when driving through other peoples holes after being all crossed up.

I like the logic,  so the pressures will just have to come back a bit more.

If anybody knows the answer to any negatives of pulling the fuse I would still be interested  (just in case !!)

Thanks for the feedback

Having the AMV CDL i have the ability to disengage the traction control, but having done stuff in both modes i haven't really noticed much of a difference, unless i'm travelling very slow up slippery hills or i engage HDC.
So far i haven't had any problems with the ETC stopping forward motion in soft mud or sand, so i don't bother disengaging anymore, can't see the point now.

Removing the SLABS fuse should prevent stop lights from working.

I suspect that unplugging a wheel sensor would disable ETC/ABS.

Be sure to engage your centre differential lock when driving in sand!

If you don't have this capability, investigate how to get this capability into your vehicle, as it will be the true solution to your problem.

Of course, this is assuming that you are running appropriate sand driving pressures to your tyres.

I thought their is a way of disengaging the TC by doing some sequence involving the ignition. I know Gidget knows how it works as he told me one time when we were at LCMP. Don't quote me on it but I think if you turn off the vehicle & leave the key in the ignition then start it again it disengages the TC ?? :?

Graeme is right. Unplugging just one of the ABS sensor plugs at the wheel will disable ABS and TC, but you will get all the lights on.

I have never had a problem with the TC on sand. Both on desert trips and beach driving I have had the tyre pressures down to about 18 and the TC hardly ever came on.

Does Gidget have CDL actuation on a D2?  If so, you enable CDL when the vehicle is running.  Then switch off (doesn't matter if you remove the key) and turn back on again.  This will disable ETC.
