Nice setup, George!

What is the purpose of the false floor?  Is it because you have some storage underneath?

Good to see another V8 owner who's done up their Disco.

Hope you don't plan on installing a Hiclone...   I did and got no better fuel economy

Lawrance,
The false floor's purpose is to allow me to secure things in the back without having to make any holes in the car itself. I use the four "D" rings to hold it in place and find it very secure. It also allows me to run the cables for the extra outlets underneath, It is only an inch above the exsisting floor. Then I mount the fridge using an Engel Slide Lock which is a plastic mounting device for the fridge which is screwed into place. It is not a fridge slide though !
All of this makes for a very neat appearance and is quite hard to tell that it is not OE.
If you like, I will email you some pics, just let me know.
With the V8, I love it and have always wanted a V8. I think it's a great bush vehicle.
It would be good to hook up one day and compare notes
Regards
George.

George, How about posting a couple of pics of your false floor on this thread, I would love to see what you have done.

Got to test the 40mm shaft extensions to my shocks on Sunday.
What a difference it makes. No longer am I getting a bone jarring thud travelling through the whole car when the shocks reach full extension. If anyone has experienced shocks that top out you will know what I mean.
Know it is driving and handling finally how I always expected it to. Plus I have gained some down travel proportional to the lift.
I will summarise the latest mods in the suspension section.
Stay tuned 8O
Regards
George.

Did you do the bump stops also?

No, I didn't extend the bump stops. According to Bilstein, it's not required and sofar so good. On Sunday I got to twist the axles up good and proper with no negative results.
But seeing now that you have mentioned it, I will keep an eye on it as I feel that I might be very close to bottoming out the front shocks at high speed, passing over dips in the road where the whole front of the car compresses at once.
Not that I race the car or anything

George.

George,

How much did this cost? I assume that Heasmans did the work.
Have you extended your brake lines & abs lines?

Cheers,
Jon

Jon,
Heasmans charged me $187.00 / pair inc. GST. 8O
On top of the $385.00 / pair to purchase the shocks in the first place, makes my shocks worth $572.00 a pair plus the time it took me to fit everything, plus misc. items like spring spacers etc.
With the brakes, yes they were extended by 30mm which was plenty and ABS lines were pretty much spot on.
The full story and fix is in the Suspension section of this forum under the heading:
Bilstein / Lovells 2.1/4" Lift.

So would I.
I know of a 4x4 shop with a ramp, so when I get some time I will ask if they don't mind.

Thanks George,

I remember now you posting about the brake lines on the "other" site.

That money sounds reasonable to me if you end up with the shocks you want. I have had the same problems with the billies and am currently running ome. Don't like them as much, but the travel is better. Wan't to refit the billies, but still mucking about with springs. Do you know the rate & free length of your rears?

I will be interested to see how you get on with the bump stops.

Cheers,
Jon

George :D

It looks like at the next LROC show and shine they are going to have a ramp there for some RTI testing.

I have just added a Warn XD9000 Winch to the car as well, which means I will need to get heavier front springs.
I will try Lovells RFR32HD's to support the extra weight.
Where does it end ?
